NORRISVILLE ? To raise money for tsunami relief, the youth of the Norrisville Charge are operating a concessions stand at their local recreation center. The stand is open every Saturday, selling food donations, baked goods and drinks that have been donated by members of the charge churches, Norrisville, Ayres Chapel and St. Paul UMCs. By mid-February the youth raised more than $1,250, adding about $200 each week. They plan to send all the funds to UMCOR for the relief efforts. 'It has been wonderful for the kids to see that they easily get support from our charge, get the community involved and make a difference,' said Michaelann Meehan, Norrisville UMC's youth group leader. 'Our youth lead and teach us.' |
