Youth matter - that's what van symbolizes
BERKELEY SPRINGS ? When the 15-passenger 2003 Ford van drove into the parking lot at Leadership Days at Musselman High School Jan. 15, it represented an answered prayer, said the Rev. Nancy Krouse, pastor of Greenwood UMC. The van was on its maiden voyage, but had been a dream for much longer than Krouse had been pastor of the church.
On its next trip it took 12 youth and their advisors to ROCK 2005 in Ocean City.
The congregation purchased the rental van with less than 35,000 miles on it, as a way to carry on the youth ministry of the church. ?We have an explosion of youth at Greenwood,? Krouse said.
The van will transport not only the youth, but also adults who need transportation. The van lets people in the community, which is beginning to expand from its rural roots, know that the youth matter to the church, Krouse said.
