Youth join polar bears at ROCK
BALTIMORE - Thirteen youth from Halethorpe-Relay UMC took the 'Polar Bear Plunge' at ROCK 2007 to raise money for a shelter in Catonsville. Led by Shane Trevey, who had plunged into the freezing water at the Ocean City event in 2006, the rest of the youth group followed suit. They recorded the adventure on video to show the congregation as they asked for money for the West Side Shelter. They raised $424. The adult youth-leaders stood by, bundled in coats, hats and mittens, holding towels for the shivering young people, said their pastor, the Rev. Claire Fiedler.
