Youth gather for Holy Ghost party

Posted by Bwcarchives on

WASHINGTON, D.C. - For a first-time gathering of the youth ministries of the Washington-Columbia district, Hughes Memorial UMC hosted a 'Holy Ghost Party: Washington-Columbia Youth Coming Together in Unity' Oct. 28.

The Youth Ministries of the East of the River UMC (YEASTER) coordinated the event, which included praise, step and liturgical dancers, a comedian, gospel go-go band, singers and a fashion show.

Eighteen local churches were represented and 196 people attended, said Jonathan Holley, the church communicator. District Superintendent David Argo offered inspiration and encouragement to the youth.

'Attendees were overjoyed during an altar call to witness two youths led to Christ by a fellow youth, who although confined to a wheelchair, ministered wonderfully in the power of the Holy Spirit,' Holley said.
