United Methodists seek to respond to a church shooting in Ellicott City

Posted by Bwcarchives on

The tragedy unfolding this week at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Ellicott City has deeply shocked and saddened us all.

While we will all, as individuals and congregations, offer our prayers and support to the stricken parish and families, we would like to offer the Our Brothers’ and Sisters’ Keepers participants and other faith groups the chance to come together as a community at this time.

We invite and encourage you and your staffs to join us on Wednesday, May 16, at 9 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 6800 Oakland Mills Rd., Columbia (New Brick church, lower level Great Hall) so that we can:

  • Join in prayer
  • Explore possible ways to reach out to support St. Peter’s parish
  • Discuss how to keep staff/clergy safe while providing assistance to our neighbors in need
  • Consult with Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center’s resource team
  • Address any other issues the group may have

Please join us to stand in unity at this difficult time.

So that we can plan, please RSVP with the names, email addresses and phone numbers of those who will join us on the 16th.

Yours in service and fellowship,

Linda Hayes, Director, Christ Link

Malcolm Stranathan, Lead Pastor, Mt. Zion UMC, Highland

Martin P. Brooks, Associate Pastor, Bethany UMC, Ellicott City
