? President Bush has nominated a fellow United Methodist, Dr. James W. Holsinger Jr., to serve as the 18th surgeon general of the United States. Holsinger is a professor of preventive medicine at the University of Kentucky and a member of the denomination?s Judicial Council.
? Retired United Methodist Bishop Arthur Kulah has been named to Liberia?s Truth and Reconciliation Commission, authorized by the country?s president, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, a United Methodist. The commission?s statement 'envisions a new Liberia where survivors, victims and perpetrators will ? live together as one people.'
