The United Methodist Committee on Relief has issued an urgent plea for medicine boxes to be sent to Indonesia and other countries affected by the recent tsunami.
According to Associate Council Director Sandra Ferguson, financial contributions are always needed. However, there is now less of a need for flood buckets and hygiene kits, while medicine is desperately needed.

Medicine boxes contain 18 essential drugs and medical supplies, traditionally enough to respond to illness and injuries in a population of approximately 1,000 for a period of three months.

Churches are asked to collect seven over-the-counter supplies and raise $375 to cover the cost of prescription medicines that are added later.

For more information on medicine boxes see http://gbgm-umc.org/health/medbox/medhome.stm.

To send a financial contribution to UMCOR, write a check payable to the conference treasurer, and send it to the Baltimore-Washington Conference, 7178 Columbia Gateway Drive, Columbia, MD 20046.
