BALTIMORE - As the youth at Mt. Winans UMC studied Genesis and the story of Joseph, the Rev. Stacey Cole Wilson asked herself who in today's White House is the equivalent of Joseph, in charge of the king's household?

She contacted Rear Admiral Stephen W. Rochon, the chief usher, who invited her to the White House to see for herself.

Cole Wilson met with him in late February. "He shares my vision of inspiring children and youth to dare to be all that God has created them to be and to use their God-given potential to change the world for the better," she said. He invited her to bring the Mt. Winans youth to the White House.

But the idea kept growing. Cole Wilson asked him if other youth, especially those without much hope in their lives or facing many challenges, might also be able to come and see. Then she made some contacts.

As a result, she is currently working with officials to schedule tours for youth from the Board of Child Care and the Deaf-Blind Camps, Inc.

"Perhaps, these tours will inspire us all to keep the faith and believe that God still can transform our adversity into spring boards of blessings," she said.
