HANCOCK – The Good Shepherd Preschool at Hancock UMC was in need of new kitchen appliances. But had no funds. They sought help from the United Methodist Appalachian Ministry Network, headed by Sharon Leatherman of Williamsport UMC until recently, when she retired after 15 years.

This summer, Mary Catherine Sencindiver, the conference United Methodist Women’s representative to UMAMN, presented the preschool a check for $1,500. The funds have been used for a new dishwasher and microwave.

UMAMN helped Good Shepherd Preschool get started a few years ago, Leatherman said. The organization has also given grants to Mt. Nebo UMC for a preschool and after-school program assistance to Calvary and Paw Paw UMCs.
