Bishop Asbury?s Journal, Feb. 14, 1806

  • The Virginia Conference met at Norfolk and reported a gain of 2,398 members. Bishop Whatcoat ordained 12 deacons.

Methodist Protestant, Feb. 7, 1906

  • Uniontown Methodist Protestant Church installed an embossed metal ceiling and led a union evangelistic meeting of three denominations.
  •  A revival at Mt. Lebanon Methodist Protestant in Baltimore won 40 people to Christ with the aid of Mr. Baker, a Methodist Episcopal local preacher.
  • Bedford Street, Mapleside and Melvin churches in Cumberland were all dedicated Feb. 18.

Circuit Rider, Jan. 30, 1981

  • Conference churches contributed $126,000 in the Christmas offering for the Board of Child Care.
  • Time to Grow workshops were set around the conference to forward the $5.5 million campaign.
  •  United Methodist church bells celebrated the release of the American hostages long held in Iran.

Connection, Feb. 7, 1996

  • LaVale UMC is the UMCOR and FEMA Center for ministry to Alleghany County flood victims.
  • St. Matthew?s UMC of 23rd Street is redeveloping ministry at Waverly UMC and erecting a Child Care Center with conference assistance.
  •  United Methodists presented a 10,000-signature petition to the governor pleading for no increased legalized gambling.
  •  UMCOR was honored by the first lady for relief efforts in Bosnia, where 75 United Methodist staffers were working.
  •  The Rev. Ruth Miller was honored for her hospice chaplaincy.
