First Church Baltimore held Sunday evening services in the neighborhood. ? Fork Church was repaired and reopened. ? The Baltimore Methodist Book Store, burned out by the Baltimore Fire, relocated again from Eutaw Street Church to 220 N. Howard Street. ? Circuit Rider, Sept. 19, 1980 ? The Rev. Marjorie Matthew's, the first woman bishop, took office in Wisconsin. ? Caroleann Myers, conference missionary secretary, sought support from Baltimore Conference churches for 10 world missionaries. ? Ruth Daugherty of Easter Pennsylvania Conference took office as the national president of United Methodist Women.
10 Years Ago Connection, Sept. 13, 1995 ? Garrison UMC church members paraded to 'Take Back Our Streets' from drugs. ? The 250th anniversary of Bishop Asbury?s birth was celebrated by the Historical Society at his grave in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
