UM churches winners in parade
HAGERSTOWN ? Two United Methodist churches were winners in this year?s Mummer?s parade.
Each year the city sponsors the parade, and entries come from all over Maryland and the tri-state area.
Grace UMC took fourth place with its float, 'Celebrating 110 years of Grace UMC.' The float?s theme featured a party with a huge cake and display of gifts. JoAnn Lucas, one of the older members of the congregation rode on the float with other members, as the praise band played.
Otterbein?s first-place float carried a race-car theme. It featured a yellow pace car in front, with a pit crew, race cars and fans on the float behind, accompanied by repeated playing of Carrie Underwood?s 'Jesus Take the Wheel.'
