Ugandan children sing into hearts

The “Chosen” a children’s choir from Uganda, came to Wesley Chapel UMC Sept. 1, nearly bursting the seams of the tiny church with their energy and spirit.

JESSUP – The “Chosen” a children’s choir from Uganda, came to Wesley Chapel UMC Sept. 1, nearly bursting the seams of the tiny church with their energy and spirit. They were invited by Pastor Richard Oursler, who came to know their leaders on a mission trip to Uganda.

The six Ugandan girls and a boy, ages 8-12, were on a tour to sing to congregations and share their stories of losing family and finding hope in their new home in a village built by AOET. The “Chosen” children attend Rehabeth School, built as part of the village.

The non-profit African Orphans Trust was started 15 years ago by Sam and Nancy Tushabe have built whole communities in Uganda and four other African countries where children whose parents have died from AIDS, live in cottages in families. She accompanied the children on their tour.
