Toward a healthier church and community

Posted by Bwcarchives on

HANOVER ? The all day rain didn't stop 125 people from attending the church health fair in mid-January, said Pat Hamilton in The Marker, the newsletter of St. Mark UMC.

North Arundel Hospital sponsored the fair as part of a pilot program to provide free health screening in the community. Screenings were provided at no charge. The fair also gave free flu shots to those who asked. In addition to the screenings, some 22 hospital volunteers ran educational booths with information on health issues.

St. Mark UMC provided the space and volunteers, made lunch for the hospital workers, supplied refreshments for people participating in the screenings and got the word out for the 'remarkable turnout,' Hamilton said.
