The Rev. Marvin Anthony 'Tony' Boyles, 60, retired, died suddenly Nov. 2 at his home in Titusville, Fla. The Rev. Terri Rae Chattin assisted at a memorial service in Titusville Nov. 6.

Boyles stayed up to watch Monday Night Football when his wife, Jan Lichtenwalter, conference communications director in the mid-1980s, retired for the evening. He died that night.

Boyles came to the Baltimore-Washington Conference from the Western North Carolina Conference in 1969. He was appointed to the Southwest Christian Parish in Baltimore, and stayed until 1974, when he moved to Deer Park UMC.

He was there nine years, then was appointed to Hiss UMC in 1984. He stayed until 1990, when he moved to Florida to be near his parents. He was on the pastoral staff at First UMC in Titusville, Fla., for eight years. He retired in 1999.

Boyles and Lichtenwalter married in 1987.

His parents, James and Fern Boyles, died separately one day apart less than a month earlier. His first wife, Gloria Boyles, died in 1986.

Survivors include his wife, a daughter from his first marriage, Christie Boyles Henson of Tampa; sons Anthony Alan Boyles,16, and Glen Andrew Boyles,14; and one grandson.

The Rev. Roy H. Moore, 76, retired, died Oct. 30, following a long illness and complications from a fall in the nursing home where he had been for several weeks. A memorial service was held Nov. 6, at Lake Wales UMC in Lake Wales, Fla.

Moore was first appointed to Bethel UMC in Upper Marlboro in 1970 where he stayed 16 years. After a sabbatical break in 1980, Moore?s ministry was as a pastoral counselor with the Washington Pastoral Counseling Services from 1981 to 1983, then in Florida from 1983 to 1985 with the Community Christian Counseling Center. He returned in 1985 to work with the Waldorf Pastoral Counseling Service until his retirement in 1991.

Moore and his wife, Sarah, married in 1949. They had two daughters. Following his retirement, they moved to Florida where he enjoyed gardening and traveling with a travel trailer, going as far as Seattle to visit a daughter.

He is survived by his wife and daughters, Sharon Lynne Moore of Lake Wales, Fla., and Laura Ann Moore of Seattle.
