Posted by Bwcarchives on

SAVAGE ? Elizabeth Renfro, 18, a member of Savage UMC, received the Good Samaritan Award from the General Commission on United Methodist Men. The award honors young people from 12 to 21 who demonstrate the attributes of the good Samaritan described in Luke 10:25-37.

Renfro received the award for creating an opportunity for Girl Scouts to learn what people with disabilities must cope with on a daily basis, and she provided 30 care packages for wounded soldiers.

For the past five summers, she has helped adult workers at a county day camp. She is also a volunteer at a Laurel soup kitchen and a food pantry in Savage. She helps with vacation Bible school and helps teach a preschool Sunday school class.

Renfro is entering California University of Pennsylvania this fall as a freshman.
