Sweatshirts warm up children in need
BOWIE ? A notice went out at St. Matthew's UMC in early December that 'angel tags' were ready for pick up. The tags indicated children, by size and gender, who would appreciate a new sweatshirt, and indicated which school the child attended. The information was provided by the schools.
Volunteers from the church distributed 220 sweatshirts they had purchased to children in 12 local elementary schools.
Church members took the wrapped packages of sweatshirts, tagged for a specific child, to the designated school on the last day the children were present before Christmas break, the church secretary reported.
