Scholarships given to 48 students
COLUMBIA ? The annual observance of United Methodist Student Day is Nov. 26. This is one of the six Sundays mandated by the denomination as a special Sunday with an offering.
Forty-eight young people from churches in the Baltimore-Washington Conference benefit this year from scholarships made possible by the offerings taken on this day and World Communion Sunday, which was observed Oct. 1.
In this conference, the total given in the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry scholarships is $61,500. Another $5,000 has been loaned to two students.
The recipients were active in 40 different local churches, some students were also active at the district or conference level. Four of them are in seminary.
