Ruth Inglehart Hill

Ruth Iglehart Hill, 97, the widow of the late Rev. Walter Hill, died in the Asbury Village Health Center June 27. The Rev. Mark Derby officiated at a memorial service in late August, held at the chapel at Asbury Village, where she had lived since 1989. She was a member of Grace UMC in Gaithersburg.

Ruth Iglehart married Asbury resident Walter Hill in 1997 after both were widowed. Her first husband, Marion Iglehart, died in 1970. Hill died in 2003.
Ruth Hill  worked as a secretary for many years. She was certified as an associate in Christian education.

She was a consultant for the General Board of Higher Education, working with small member churches. As a Diaconal Minister, her service took her to Hawaii, Alaska, New Jersey, Baltimore and Alabama. She served as director of education for more than 12 years at First UMC in Athens, Alabama.

She also enjoyed knitting, reading, bridge,  canasta and travel.

Survivors include sons, John Iglehart of Bethesda and Donald L. Iglehart of Stanford, Calif.; daughter Marion I. Beachley of Madison, Wis.; and six grandchildren. Also surviving are his son, Leonard Hill of North Haven, Conn., and daughter Jeanne Hill Kangas of Kirksville, MO.
