Rev. Clifford Caldwell McCormick, Jr.The Rev. Clifford Caldwell McCormick Jr., 84, a retired clergy member of the Baltimore-Washington Conference, died Oct. 12 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster. The Rev. Mary Kay Totty conducted a memorial service Oct. 24 at St. Paul’s UMC in New Windsor. McCormick served Strawbridge Church prior to 1952 when he was appointed to the Johnsville-Middleburg Charge. He served a year at Calvary Church in Baltimore, and a year as chaplain intern at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington, D.C. Subsequent appointments took him to Friendship in Anne Arundel County in 1957, Strawbridge in 1961, the New Windsor Parish in 1969, and as chaplain to the Springfield Hospital Center in Sykesville in 1974, where he served for nearly 15 years until his retirement in 1988. After his retirement he pastored Brick UMC outside New Windsor for five years. He was a World War II veteran and served in the South Pacific. Survivors include his wife of 56 years Margaret “Peg” McCormick, daughter Joan Yatsevitch of Santa Fe, N.M.; sons William M. McCormick of Middletown and J. Michael McCormick of Idaville, Pa.; 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Condolences may be sent to Margaret McCormick, 402 Church St., P.O. Box 487, New Windsor, MD 21776.
