Evelyn and Rev. George Stansbury
| BALTIMORE ? The Rev. George Stansbury retired in 2001, but he didn't stop working. He's been pastor at Wildwood and Christ Edmondson UMCs since that time. Over the years, he and his wife Evelyn worked for the integration of public schools in Anne Arundel County, founded the Annapolis United Interdenominational Black Clergy organization in the 1960s, and worked for the causes of children, raising nine of their own. On Jan. 14, the couple received the 2005 Martin Luther King Jr. Drum Major Award for leadership, presented by Carl Snowden, assistant to Anne Arundel County executive Janet Owens, at a banquet in Glen Burnie. |
