Refugee ministries recognized
COLUMBIA ? The Refugee/Immigration Ministries of the United Methodist Committee on Relief has issued certificates of recognition to three conference churches and an individual for their sponsorships of refugees during the past year.
Baltimore Hispanic Ministry, First UMC in Hyattsville and Emory UMC?s Beacon of Light in Washington were recognized because each one is a Justice for Our Neighbors (JFON) site. Betty Wilson of John Wesley UMC received the certificate for assisting dozens of families from Uzbekistan coming into the Hagerstown area.
