Quilts cover the community

Posted by Bwcarchives on

CUMBERLAND ? Once a week the women of Zion UMC meet at the church to knot the quilts they have pieced at home during the week. The women finance the ministry with profits from a bread-making project and through donations of double knit material.

Margaret Haus, one of the quilters, reports that in the last 10 years the group has donated more than 140 quilts to area community service organizations, and 12 quilts to a Guatemalan orphanage.

'No matter how many quilts are made, the need is always there,' Haus said.

HAVRE DE GRACE ? For the first time ever, members of the Susquehanna Charge gathered for a weekend retreat at Camp Manidokan Feb. 18-20. Thirty-five attendees, including youth, discussed where God is calling the charge in its mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ. They created a new Vision Team to begin making the dreams and ideas discussed a reality, reported Janice Hash.
