WASHINGTON - The Rev. Irene C. Pierce was recognized in a 'Donor Profile' in the spring issue of Africa University Today. Pierce 'is one of Africa University?s most effective goodwill ambassadors. Not only has she endowed a full scholarship at the university, but she has also recruited many supporters for AU. Pierce?s passion for her ministry and for Africa University has touched the lives of many at home and on the African continent,' the article said.

Pierce has held numerous positions at Asbury UMC in Washington, at the district and conference levels. She was a director of the General Board of Global Ministries, where she first learned of the 'Africa Initiative' and began her wide interest in Africa and her deep love for the university. She is currently pastor for congregational life at Asbury UMC.
