Parking lot ministry opens
ROCKVILLE – Rockville UMC and Manna Food Center began a new partnership Aug. 3 with a ribbon cutting ceremony in the church’s satellite parking lot. That evening began a weekly food distribution at the site to help feed hungry people.
The church had the space in the parking lot, and Manna had the food, so working together “we can make a difference in the lives of citizens of Rockville and Montgomery County,” said the Rev. Kay Barger. “We never dreamed that something as simple as a parking lot could be used for ministry.”
Manna also distributes food to county residents at 13 other sites, feeding each month 10,000 people.
