LUTHERVILLE – Located just a little over two miles apart, Carroll's-Gill's UMC and Har Sinai Congregation are strengthening bonds of friendship with celebrations and a six-week study course.

They began with a joint observance of the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks at Har Sinai and later held a joint pet blessing at Carroll's-Gill's. Then in January they began a six-week interfaith study course.

The Reform Judaism congregation, under the leadership of Rabbi Bradd Boxman, presented a curriculum focused on cultural history and stereotypes, called "Open Doors, Open Minds: Synagogues & Churches Studying Together."

That fit right in with United Methodism's "Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors,"

The Rev. David Roberts noted that several of his church members have spouses who attend Har Sinai. "It's time for us to get to know each other," he said.
