Obituary - Willa Canby Morgan

Willa Canby Morgan, 97, the widow of the late Rev. Charles Morgan, died at Asbury Methodist Village July 16, six months after her husband's death. The Rev. Harry C. Cole officiated at a funeral service July 18.

She married retired associate pastor, Charles Morgan, a widower, in 1992. He had retired from the ministry in 1981, and moved to Asbury Village with his late wife in 1987. She died there in 1991.

Willa Morgan graduated in 1931 and had a career in nursing.

She joined Calvary UMC in Martinsburg in 1952 and was an active member, holding many church offices, until her move to Asbury Village in 1991. She was a faithful acolyte at every Asbury Chapel service.

Morgan was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as a volunteer on several committees in Martinsburg.

She was preceded in death by two other husbands, Amon O. Harper and Hayden J. Nelson.

Surviving is a nephew, Claetus Canby of Hedgesville, W. Va., two great-nephews and a great-niece.
