For two years, 1983-1985 the Moores lived in Florida where he worked with the Community Christian Counseling Center. In 1985 they returned to Waldorf PCS and remained until his retirement in 1991, at which time they returned permanently to Florida. They lived a few doors from her mother, who lived independently to age 97, but with frequent care-giving visits from her daughter.

The Moores enjoyed traveling with a travel trailer, especially to the state of Washington to visit a daughter. She also enjoyed gardening.
