Lillian WomackLillian Caton Womack, 72, the wife of the Rev. Owen B. Womack, a retired Elder, died Oct. 30, 2011, in Tulsa, Okla., as a result of her nine year battle with multiple myeloma. Participating at the funeral service Nov. 5, at New Street UMC in Shepherdstown, W. Va., was her husband who delivered the sermon, and the Revs. John Rudisill and Dee-Ann Dixon.

She graduated from Shepherdstown High School and Martinsburg Business College. She worked in the medical records department at City Hospital in Martinsburg, before retiring as an administrative assistant at the Baltimore-Washington Conference of The United Methodist Church.

As a pastor’s wife, she served alongside her husband as he pastored various churches in the region, including Solley in Glen Burnie at the beginning of his ministry from 1956-58, Exeter Memorial in Baltimore from 1958 to 1961, then Maryland Line until 1964. He served at Mt. Zion in Bel Air for six years until 1970, then was appointed to Asbury UMC in Charles Town, W. Va. From 1973 to 1988, he pastored Calvary UMC in Martinsburg, W. Va., followed by West Baltimore UMC. His next four years were at St. Johns in Hampstead then his last appointment to First UMC in Berkeley Springs, W. Va., from which he retired in 2000.

The Womacks were married in 1958 and had two children who survive. They moved to Oklahoma where their son was director of financial aid at Oral Roberts University.

She actively supported the research efforts of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, the Rev. Owen B. Womack, a son, William O. Womack, of Tulsa, Okla., daughter, Dorothy Womack Landis, of Martinsburg, and one granddaughter.
