Obituaries - October 28, 2011 - Frances Molly Clulow

Frances ClulowFrances Molly Clulow, 87, the wife of the late Rev. Glenn F. Clulow, died Oct. 28, 2011, in Arcadia, Fla., where she had lived for 30 years. A memorial service was held Nov. 3 at Trinity UMC in Arcadia.

Molly Smith, as she was known by friends and family, and Glenn Clulow met and married while he was stationed in England in 1943. She was supportive of her husband who upon discharge opened his own jewelry business, then in 1949 began the long process of college and seminary, leading toward ordination in 1957.

His appointments included Darlington in 1954, Union Square in 1956, then to Baldwin Memorial in Millersville in 1960. For four years, 1964-1968, he served Ames UMC in Pikesville, then took a year off for them both to go to Liberia as missionaries with the Koinonia Foundation. They returned to parish ministry and he was appointed to First UMC in Bradbury Heights from 1969 to 1972, when they moved to Magothy UMC. They stayed there 10 years until his retirement in 1982 when they moved to Florida. He died in 2007.

She was a gifted singer and sang with the church choirs. She also enjoyed china painting, and crocheted or knitted many beautiful works of art. She won prizes for her cooking abilities.

Survivors include her children: James Clulow of Inglewood, Fla., Jacqueline Kaiser of Culpeper, Va., Jon Clulow and Kevin Clulow both of Pasadena, eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
