Obituaries - October 26, 2010 - The Rev. Patricia Drake

Patricia DrakeThe Rev. Patricia Ann Haynes Drake, a retired Elder, died Oct. 26, 2010, three days before her 79th birthday, at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro where, because of illness, she had been for some time. Rev. Jennifer Kokoski officiated at a celebration of life service at Salem UMC in Keedysville, Oct. 30. Retired Bishop Joseph Yeakel and Rev. Beverly Stang also participated.

Drake retired from the State of Maryland’s correctional system before her calling to ministry. She was a member of the Baltimore-Washington Conference for 21 years.

Prior to her ordination in 1995, she served the Deerfield and Mt. Zion UMCs on the Catoctin Mountain Charge near Thurmont. She was appointed to the Darkesville-Paynes Chapel Charge from 1992 until her retirement in 1998. She served an interim appointment to Mt. Carmel UMC near Frederick for several months.

After retirement she became chaplain at the Reeders Memorial Home until a car accident in 2002, which disabled her. During the last three years of her life she was a resident of Reeders assisted living, because of a series of strokes.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, George Arthur Drake Sr., in 1980.

Survivors include her four sons: George A. Drake Jr. and Michael A. Drake from Sharpsburg, Philip A. Drake and Paul A. Drake from Keedysville, and their wives; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
