The Rev. Kathryn Hames Letto, died Nov. 8, 2012, two days after her 60th birthday. She suffered from a brain aneurysm. She was on a leave of absence for the past year. The Rev. Reg Barss officiated at a memorial service Nov. 14 at Magothy UMC. Assisting in the service were Annapolis District Superintendent, the Rev. Evan Young, and the Revs. Denise Millett, Mike Fauconnet, and Paulette Jones.

Kathryn Hames was born Nov. 6, 1952, in Washington, D.C., to the late Donald and Evalyn Hames. She was a graduate of Oxon Hill High School in the early 1970s, then received a degree from Bowie State University and Howard University.

Letto served Forest Memorial UMC in Forestville in 1992, Christ UMC in Landover Hills, 1993-95; La Plata UMC until 1997, Cheltenham UMC 1997 to 2003, Mt. Carmel in Pasadena, 2003-2011, then South Mountain Charge in Keedysville. She took a leave of absence for health reasons in November 2011.

She and Dennis Lee Letto were married in 1994.

Her hobbies included scrap booking, reading and traveling.

Survivors include her husband and her children: John M. Kipper IV, Brian L. Kipper and Bryan L. Letto all of Waldorf, and Sherri L. Letto of Hollywood, Md., and five grandchildren.
