Obituaries - November 18, 2013 - Rev. Henry Leonard Fisher

Rev. Henry Leonard Fisher, 78, a retired Elder and pastor of Silver Grove UMC in Harpers Ferry, W. Va., died Nov.18, 2013, in Hagerstown, Md. His funeral service was held at Valley Grace Brethren Church in Hagerstown, Nov. 22. The Rev. Bill Swope officiated.

Fisher was born Jan. 21, 1935, in Wrightsville, Pa., to the late Harry Allen and Verna Irene McCleary Fisher. He was a graduate of Red Lion High School.

Fisher served a number of United Methodist churches. His ministry began in 1967 at Rayville, in 1972 he was appointed to St. James UMC in Big Pool, and in 1974, to a short stint with the Potomac Charge. From 1975-1982, he pastored Trinity UMC in Berkeley Springs, then from1990 to 1997 to the Shenandale Charge. He retired in 1997, but was called back into active ministry in 2008 to Shenandale in Harpers Ferry, then in 2013, to the Silver Grove UMC in Harpers Ferry.

He was predeceased by a son, Mark Fisher..

Survivors include his wife of 58 years,, Amy Ellen Miller Fisher; son, Ralph Fisher of Murrells’ Inlet, S.C.; daughters, Arlene Everitts of Williamsport, Fairy Lida of Williamsport, Nancy Fisher of Hagerstown, and Michelle Fisher of Shepherdstown, W. Va.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
