Anna Mary RoderickAnna Mary Roderick, 97, the wife of the late Rev. Raymond L. Roderick, died Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Homewood at Crumland Farms in Frederick, where she had lived since 2000. Her life was celebrated in the chapel at Homewood June 2.

Anna Mary Kefauver was born in Middletown Nov. 14, 1914, to Dr. Noah E. Kefauver and Lucretia Michael Kefauver. She attended elementary school and two years of high school in Middletown and graduated from National Park Seminary at Forest Glen in 1929. She attended Hood College and Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., from which she graduated in 1936.

She taught home economics at Frederick High School until she married Raymond Roderick in 1938.  She enthusiastically shared in his ministerial career, living in various communities in Maryland and Washington, D.C., from 1939 until his retirement in 1976. He served United Methodist churches in Monkton, Forest Hill, Dundalk, Congress Heights, Glenmont, and Calvary  in Frederick. He was a superintendent of the Hagerstown District from 1963 to 1969.  After retirement, he served as chaplain at Reeders Memorial Nursing Home for 12 years.

During retirement they returned to her beloved family farm in Middletown for several years. In 1992 they moved to Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover, Pa., then in 2000 were among the first residents of Homewood at Crumland Farms. He died in 2008 after 70 years of marriage.

Surviving are two daughters, Marianne C. Roderick of Wilmette, Ill., and Nancy C. Roderick Newton of Middletown; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
