Obituaries - May 2, 2012 - Margaret "Peggy" Huffines

Margaret “Peggy” Huffines, 90, widow of the late Rev. J. Richard Huffines, died May 2, 2012.

Margaret Fertig was born Dec. 28, 1922. She and Richard Huffines married in 1951, after he was discharged from Army service in Korea. They had one daughter, who survives.

Peggy Huffines accompanied her husband throughout his college and seminary education. From 1960 to 1964, he was a campus minister at the University of Maryland and at George Washington University . They returned to Boston University Seminary where he obtained his degree in 1966, and they remained in the area. He was chaplain at Bridgewater State College in for nearly 20 years, until 1985.

The Huffineses returned to Maryland and he was appointed to Piney Grove UMC in Bowleys Quarters in 1985 and they served there until he took a leave of absence in 1989 following heart by-pass surgery. He retired in 1990 and died from a massive heart attack in 2000.

Survivors include a daughter, Christina H. Balboni of East Bridgewater, Mass., and three grandchildren.
