Marjorie E. Perry, the wife of the Rev. James E. Perry, retired Elder, died June 14, one week after her 99th birthday. She had kidney failure. There was no memorial service at her request, but in September, her ashes were interred in a family plot in Mt. Vernon, Tenn.

James Perry retired in 1971. He had served in the Indiana Conference and came to the Baltimore Conference in 1947 to the Lanham church. From 1951 to 1955, he was a chaplain with the U.S. Air Force. Upon his discharge, he went to Shady Side, then in 1959 to La Vale. From 1964-1968, he was appointed to Brooklyn, then to Baldwin Memorial, where he retired.

He and Marjorie Perry were married 64 years. They had three sons.

She was a graduate of Salem Teachers College in Salem, Mass., studied music at Towson University, and did graduate work at Harvard. She was a music teacher and taught elementary schools for years, also serving as principal of an elementary school at one time.

Perry was always active in the churches her husband served. She sang in the choirs, did library work, taught Sunday School, was active in the WSCS (forerunner of UMW), and every year taught in the Vacation Bible Schools.

Among her hobbies were knitting, playing the piano and singing at churches. She had an interest in sports, especially tennis, which she loved to play.

Survivors include her husband, sons Mark Perry of Pennsylvania, Bray Perry of Linthicum, and Vlaine Perry of Odenton; and three grandchildren.

Condolences may be sent to Rev. James Perry, P.O. Box 923, Severna Park, MD 21146-0923.
