Ed Adams, 65, the husband of the Rev. Ann P. Adams, died Jan. 31, from a brain tumor, diagnosed a year ago. His wife officiated at a service Feb. 6, at Arbutus UMC. Attending the service as a longtime friend was Bishop Peggy Johnson.

In 1961, Adams enlisted in the Navy and was a member of the Class of 1966 of the U.S. Naval Academy. After his discharge in 1970, Adams began working for Baltimore Gas & Electric, and stayed 31 years in various engineering and supervisory positions, until he retired in 2002.

He then worked part-time as a driver for the Hubbard Funeral Home and the Ambrose Funeral Home.

He and Ann Adams married in 1995, Four days later she began seminary while serving a church. He was always involved in the churches she served, with weekly worship, hands-on work with the trustees, and in later years with Bible study.

His marriage to Lynn Donaldson ended in divorce.

Survivors include his wife, sons from his first marriage, Brian Adams and Jim Adams, two grandchildren, and four brothers and sisters.

Doris E. Felty, 86, the wife of the late Rev. Charles L. Felty, died Dec. 21 at Dove House in Westminster.

Doris Conley married Charles Felty while he was serving as a chaplain in the Army Air Force in 1943. They had met while he was serving Patapsco UMC from 1954-1959. After his discharge in 1945, she served with him at appointments to Severn Jessup, Wilkins Avenue, Elderslie and Stone Chapel United Methodist churches until his retirement in 1976. He died in 1981 after years of heart problems.

Conley was a secretary to the vice president of O'Neill's Department Store. Survivors include her daughters, Wendy Felty of Hampstead and Phyllis L. Byrd of Ellicott City.

Jean McClintock Kopp, 83, the wife of the Rev. Lamar Kopp, retired, died Jan. 3 in a nursing home in Quincy, Pa. Nursing She was a member of Otterbein UMC in Hagerstown.

Kopp was a Baltimore native. She and Lamar Kopp were married in 1951 while he was pastor at St. John's UMC in Baltimore. She served with him in his ministry from 1954 to 1976 at Hebbville-Salem UMC, Otterbein UMC in Hagerstown from 1976 to 1985, and at Metropolitan Memorial until he retired in 1989.

When they were at Metropolitan Memorial, she worked off and on as secretary and interim business manager. From 1978 to 2002, she had 8,000 hours of volunteer time at Washington County Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, a daughter, Katharine J. Beckley of Winchester, Va.; two sons, Steven L. Kopp of Smithsburg and Bruce B. Kopp of Hebbville; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Lorne W. Burton, 82, retired clergy, died at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda Jan. 16.

Burton enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force immediately after graduating from high school in 1944. He was discharged two years later and began college studies at the University of Charleston to become a teacher,. In 1951 he entered Wesley Seminary, then in Westminster.

Burton's ministry began in 1950 when he began serving Park Place in Cumberland. After ordination in 1954, he was appointed to Hancock UMC. From 1960-1969, he served Clarksburg and Trinity UMCs in Clarksburg. It was there he met Mary Dorsey and they married in 1961.

In 1971 they moved to Salem in Cedar Grove, until he went on disability leave in 1972, then honorable location until his retirement in 1991.

In 1978, the Burtons affiliated with Damascus UMC, where he served on committees and taught adult classes.

Survivors include his wife, a sister, three nieces and a nephew.
