Obituaries - December 25, 2011 - The Rev. Stanley Bice, Jr.

Stanley BiceThe Rev. Stanley Bice Jr., a retired Elder, died at Riderwood Village, Dec. 25, 2011. A  funeral service was held Dec. 29 at First UMC in Laurel.

Bice’s pastoral service began in 1957 as the assistant pastor at Chesapeake Methodist in Edgewater. In 1959 he was appointed to Parkins Chapel in Glenn Dale and remained there 10 years, continuing to serve the Glenn Dale churches, In 1969 he moved to Dorsey and in 1972 he was appointed to Glenn Dale UMC. Six years later he went to Clinton UMC and stayed 15 years. His next appointment was to First UMC in Laurel in 1993, from which he retired in 2000.

After retirement the Bices moved to Riderwood Village in Silver Spring, where he ministered to its residents. He enjoyed refinishing furniture in his spare time and any activities involving his family.

He and Churalene Sinyard Bice married in 1960. They had two sons.

Survivors include his wife of Silver Spring, and sons, Stanley Bice III of Arnold, and Kenneth Bice of San Antonio, Texas; and two grandsons.
