Obituaries - December 23, 2009 - Floyd Henry Grubb, Jr.

The Rev. Floyd Henry Grubb Jr., 82, died Oct. 30, 2009, at his residence in Arnold. Services were held Nov. 4 at the Williamstown (Pa.) UMC with the Rev. Steven Atanasoff officiating. He was buried with military honors in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Grubb served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He then worked for 27 years at the Social Security Administration, retiring in the early 80s.

Grubb was a part time local pastor serving in the 70s for 8 years at the Canton UMC (now closed) in Baltimore, in the late 70s at the Alberta Gary UMC in Ellicott City, then a three-point charge in the Cumberland area in the early 80s. He last served Solley UMC in Pasadena in 1985.

He was a member of Calvary UMC in Annapolis. He was a life member and Chaplain-at-Large with the American Legion Post 239 and life member of VFW Post 6497 both in Williamstown, Pa. He enjoyed playing the piano in many of the churches he served. He also played handbells and the bagpipes. He enjoyed square dancing, shooting clays and traveling with his family.

Survivors included Shirley M. Grubb, his wife of 57 years; four daughters, Deborah A. Grubb-Wheeler of Reisterstown, Deanna A. Webber of Arnold, Darlene A. Grubbkruger of Pasadena , Dahn A. Grubb of Arnold; and a son, John A Grubb of Pasadena. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
