Obituaries - April 28, 2010 - Rev. Hubert L. Patrick, Jr.

The Rev. Hubert L. Patrick, 84, a retired Elder, died April 8, 2010,at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, four days before his 85th birthday. He had been hospitalized since March 30 when he had a heart attack. Pastor James Johnson presided at a funeral service April 12 at Dublin UMC in Street.

Patrick served during World War II in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946, in the American and European Theaters. He was a graduate of Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Ky.

He and June Elizabeth Ward married in 1948. They had two children.

He began his ministerial career in Kentucky Conference in 1950, then moved to Detroit Conference in 1958. In 1963, he came to Baltimore Conference and was appointed to the Texas church in Cockeysville. His next appointments included Park Place in 1958, Park Place-McKendree in 1970 and the Smithville charge in 1974. From 1980 to 1986, he served Sandy Mount. In 1986, he moved to Providence in Fort Washington, from which he retired in 1989.

Following retirement, he pastored the Deer Park UMC in Reisterstown for five years, until he had a heart attack.

In 1994, he returned to Harford County where he enjoyed gardening, wood working and traveling with his wife throughout the United States in a travel trailer.

He was preceded in death in 2006 by a son, David L. Patrick.

Survivors include his wife, daughter, Carol S. Patrick of Abingdon, and grandson.
