McCurry | KENSINGTON ? St. Paul's UMC member, Mike McCurry, shared his views on church, politics and civil debate in 'Inside stories,' in the May 3 issue of The Christian Century. The former press secretary for President Clinton, Baltimore-Washington Conference delegate to General Conference in 2004 and Sunday school teacher had a lot to say about his faith while serving in such a public arena. He was asked about values and the religious left. 'I don't remember Jesus teaching much of anything about homosexuals,' he said, 'but I do remember him calling us always to think about those with the least. Maybe one thing we should do is to remind one another that 'Christian teaching' is much broader than the way it is being defined in some of our debates.' McCurry is a partner at Public Strategies Washington, Inc. and is chairman of Grassroots Enterprise, a software provider. |
