GAITHERSBURG ? The parents and children of Covenant UMC's Preschool and Kindergarten were recently involved in a community service project to benefit families of injured military personnel. They worked through Operation Second Chance (www.opereationsecondchange.org). Suzanne Brown | Covenant UMC's preschool and kindergarten children made care boxes to comfort families in hospitals. | The 140 children in the school put together 90 'Boxes of Care.' They all participated in contributing books, hand lotion, disposable cameras, journals, pens, crossword puzzles, candies, instant coffee, teas, and other items that would be comforting to families as they pass the time in hospital waiting rooms. The children decorated the boxes and tied on big red, white and blue ribbons, according to Shelia Mullett, director of the pre-school and kindergarten. |
