Appalachian community in Ohio. They were housed in the Piketon High School from June 18 to 26 while they worked on the homes of senior citizens.

After their days of work from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the youth studied the theme, ?Who Am I?? and explored their spiritual gifts. The team members also developed bonds with their homeowners, such as Bessie Carson, 78, who lived alone but spent part of each day babysitting her great-grandchildren.

They repaired gutters, replaced rotting siding and fascia boards and painted Carson?s house and carport.

Memorial UMC raised more than $4,000 for the project, which was added to a grant of $6,400 from the Ohio governor?s office.
