The Rev. Vivian McCarthy, a gbwc_superusere in the Western region, has been appointed to serve as a district superintendent in the Baltimore-Washington Conference. She will be filling a position vacated by the Rev. Mark Derby, who served the Washington West District and Grace UMC in Gaithersburg. Derby will now serve Grace UMC full time.

McCarthy, who has served on the conference staff for 13 years, will be replaced by the Rev. Matthew Poole, pastor of Faithpoint UMC in Urbana.
