My mission work is not finished

God is merciful and gracious. I declare Gods goodness.

I am a missionary in Malaysia, supported by many people in the Baltimore-Washington Conference. I have been contemplating how to tell them about my situation.

The General Board of Global Ministries requested all missionaries to sign a three- or four-year agreement before they left the country. My contract is up; however the mission project I am working with is not finished. I was given only one option from the Board of Global Ministries go back or lose the financial support.

Why am I so stubborn and so unwise? I should have listened to the order of the board, packed up and returned to United States. Right?

Let me explain to you my dilemma.

God hears the cries and struggles of the least of these autistic and dyslexic children and youth in Malaysia. Last April I initiated an intervention program for learning disabled children. Our focus is on children with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD). But once the door was opened, autistic children also came streaming in. My life has not been the same.

In March, I took an Internet course on teaching dyslexic children and youth and in June, a dyslexia program, based on the Read Americas Reading Reflex Program, was launched. It has been very successful.

I feel like it is impossible for me to leave these mission projects at this minute.

I sincerely and from the bottom of my heart express my regrets to everyone who supported my work. I should have mentioned the situation to you earlier, especially for the new churches that recently entered into partnership with Rumah Charis through the General Board of Global Ministries.

But God has entrusted me with this task. I cannot leave Malaysia right away. I am still doing what our loving Lord has entrusted, but not getting any support from the general board. Earlier, I had many sleepless nights. Now, I am blessed to have Gods words as my strength.

Paul was a tentmaker. Paul supported his own mission work. I am learning to live like him now. God is love.

I take this opportunity to thank everyone and all the sponsoring churches for their prayers and financial support for the past three-and-a-half years. God will bless you all richly.
