Lenten program provides grace, growth

Posted by Bwcarchives on

HAGERSTOWN - Otterbein UMC is in the midst of its fifth annual Lenten program, called 'Grace, Graze and Grow,' which began on Ash Wednesday. Adults, teens and children gather weekly at 6 p.m., first to say grace and 'graze' on a fellowship meal. They then disperse a half hour later to nearly a dozen classes where they can grow in the knowledge and practice of their faith.

'The program was met with curiosity and a mild response the first year,' said Cindy Brown, director of programs at the church. 'It has now grown to the point that we offer classes for all ages, from pre-schoolers through adults.'

The parish nurses contribute by holding a CPR training session. High school youth can take the 'Good Sex' curriculum, and adults have a choice of classes that range from 'The Rich Single Life' to 'God is Closer Than You Think,' to one that deals with dialogue between Catholics and United Methodists.
