King awarded best pastor honor

County awards pastor with ?best honor?

GAITHERSBURG - The Rev. Curtis D. King, pastor of Emory Grove UMC, and two members of the church, Carmen Francis and Odessa Battle-Nolan, received a 2005 Montgomery?s Best Honor Award March 31 at ceremonies at the Bethesda Marriott Hotel and Conference Center.

Douglas M. Duncan, county executive, presented the participants in the G.O.S.P.E.L. program with the award. G.O.S.P.E.L.(Glorifying Our Spiritual & Physical Existence for Life) represents a collaboration between the county?s Department of Health and Human Services and the Black Minister?s Conference. It addresses health problems within the African-American community, especially about tobacco-related health issues.
