Baltimore-Washington Conference churches exceeded their goal of a 90.25 percent collection rate, demonstrating vital faith by donating 90.46 percent towards the apportionment budget in 2011. A total of 643 of the BWC’s 650 churches gave $14,833,552, an amount that was very close to the $14,842,689 donated in 2010.

The Annapolis District led the giving with a collection rate of 97.9 percent, followed closely by the Cumberland-Hagerstown District with a 96.2 percent collection rate and the Washington East District with a collection rate of 95.8 percent collection. The Baltimore Metropolitan District struggled the most, with a collection rate of 79.2 percent.

In 2011, 529 churches paid 100 percent of their apportionments, up from 523 in 2010. This is a sign of church health and vitality.

Paul Eichelberger, the conference treasurer, was enthusiastic about the overall number of churches who improved their capacity to pay apportionments and support vital ministries.

“Our churches who were not able to contribute 100 percent of the apportionment last year set big goals this year to improve their support. I saw many signs of blessings in the numbers as I saw churches double and sometimes triple the percentage they had given previously,” he said.
