Giving enables growth

Within the Baltimore-Washington Conference, churches that pay their full apportionments tend to be faithful and growing congregations, willing to contribute to the building of clinics, schools, food pantries and churches around the world.

"The apportionment funds given in our local churches go out into the world to change lives," said Bishop John Schol.

As the year end approaches, conference leaders are hoping local churches close out their annual apportionment giving on a strong note.

Based upon receipts to date, local churches have worked very had to meet their apportionment goals. On Oct. 31, the conference was just slightly behind budget by $6,000, reported Comptroller Pier McPayten.

A new resource is assisting churches in this endeavor, allowing them to pay their apportionments online through an electronic clearing house (ECH) system.

All 2009 apportionments are due by Jan. 7.
