Fourteen baptisms and river immersions
HARPER?S FERRY, W. VA. - Nearly 80 people from the Shenandale Charge came to witness and celebrate as 14 people were baptized June 4. Dressed for the occasion in waders, District Superintendent Terri Rae Chattin baptized some of them by immersion in the Shenandoah River, and others on the river?s bank.
The site of the baptisms was on private property, loaned for the occasion.
'It was a grand and glorious event,' said Pastor Donnie Jane Cardwell, who assisted.
The following week, all of the newly baptized, plus five others, joined two of the churches on the three-point charge Cardwell serves.
